Why would it ? We have dog licences over here, don't stop idiots owning dogs though

Not sure how it will have any effect at all other than being an extra tax on people. Let's be honest, being a chav or a mong won't be grounds for refusing a licence. They don't have resources to inspect peoples home before issuing....and if they did it would probably be sub contracted to the rspca or a do-gooder of some description

maybe they should educate the fkn clowns who leave children alone with dogs first!!!!

that I agree with?

but something needs to be done imo, about the sheer  volume of dogs being bred with no concerns whatsoever about temperament ,some sort of 'competence' test before being allowed to own certain breeds maybe?got to be better than an all out ban (because that will more than likely be pushed for shortly))?..those of us with a brain, would have nothing to fear eh??

Also gives the cozzers carte Blanche to come in and see exactly what the patterdales and bull lurcher look like in your runs as they are registered .

a far better prospect should be a clean sweep of rescue centres with all bull types jagged which stops the over breeding and rehoming of anything remotely dodgy

Maybe compulsory insurance according to the power and reputation of the breed? At least then victims of attacks could be compensated.

I used to volunteer in a rescue centre. The number of dogs which were rehomed which were dodgy was incredible. The managment cared more about their targets than public safety. One dog in particular  I remember  was OK with certain people but scarily fear aggressive with others. It was returned 4 times. Large black alsation. Should have been jagged . They were gambling with possibly a kid's life.

Fair point. I wouldn't like to see poor people priced out either, especially the elderly. But the number of dog attacks is increasing. Bull breeds are the usual suspects according to stats from the states. Having said that you are most likely to get bitten by a lab in this country, simply because there are so many of them.

Just my humble uneducated opinion, these dogs don’t belong in anyones home as a pet no matter what……experienced don’t  come into it in my personal opinion.

These dogs are a specialised tool and require an outlet, if there’s no outlet then the dog shouldn’t be there.
