I don’t understand why both sides felt the need to use the threat of a return to violence to get one over on each other either…..as I just said, I can only assume it’s all about “revenue”

I can’t see Brexit changing nowt really for the man on street….A Single market with freedom of movement on your doorstep seems better for the man on the street than a agreement with Australia.

Tax Haven?

Every country has Trade Agreements now….more Leverage as a block rather than a single entity…

Power?

I think NI will go through a dodgy period now…..Time for real leadership now…..

Just give Mogg a go. Just for the experience like. The riots and socialist counter swing would be worth it.

The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak , and the Health Secretary, Sajid Javid, have just resigned........ Boris said he couldn't remember being told about Pincher being a sex pest, before he made him Deput

I agree, I didn't mean our sovereignty was handed over in one go. The Treaty of Rome, the Maastricht Treaty and others, handed more and more power over individual states to the EU. No one pa

Well engineering , production, food and tech all booming since we've left EU.

The Northern Ireland thing is a mess but brexit was extremely important to British people who saw the EU for what it is. Why should our future be less important than the good Friday agreement? If EU or Ireland had been less focused on belittling/punishing UK and scuppering our every step... Anyway we're where we're at , hopefully all the well paid diplomats can get things back on track, it's also the disagreements at stormont it's been failing to govern for years, from what little I know about it.

Another thing...so Ireland has the whole might of the EU behind them, so presumably they might rely on an Irish or future EU army as opposed to indiscriminate terrorism in future conflicts?

Not sure what the answer is , but I'm pretty sure younger generations must be sick to death of the bickering and failures of the main ni parties...the UK government is also at fault , it just seems like an impossible situation really, hopefully it gets worked out...

What you haven't factored in is that the UK is no longer subsidising German and French industries.  Or that the UK Manufacturers who only serve the hk e market aren't bound by regulations based on EU protectionism. There are a lot mkre benefits too.

As for what has changed; given that the post Brexit period has been dominated by Covid and now Ukraine, how can a fair assessment be made?

I felt immediately better knowing we weren't paying hundreds of meps and associates huge sums to toss it off in Brussels. Undemocratic and unchecked They're bemoaning Boris and his party gate but I'd like to have the inside info on Brussels parties, costs , expenses claimed, hotel and travel costs, hours worked, objectives achieved ? that have been going on for decades at our expense...

What’s the Alternative?

There should be an equal amount of representatives from each party,an by party I mean normal qualified people, not Eton boys or people born into it.

No hierarchy just a level playing field, everyone has a equal voice so no one party has a hold on the system.

Scrap the tories, libs Labour sinn fein dup,if you want a job in gov you have to sign up to the collective for the country.

Anything that gets decided  should be from the people somehow not the 'party' rep,no majoritys

I can't see that happening.

Farage hates Boris, you just have to watch his show every night on GBNews, he's done everything he can to bring down Boris.

They could never work together, their egos are too big, one of them would have to be the "face" of the Reform" Party, and the other could never play second fiddle.

Farage is already a member of Reform and a great friend of Tice, so I could see him coming back into politics as the leader of "Reform" , but Boris ?....... Nah, can't see it happening.

Just my opinion, of course ?

Cheers.

There is much more to it than MEP's expenses. The way the EU operates is to recruit poor countries, cut them off from their traditional suppliers, give them a load of cash which they then have to spend on EU manufactured goods. The cash they get comes from the richer EU members who then get it back in exports. That keeps their industries busy.

That works fine for Germany, Italy and France for example as they have industries and / or farming. The UK is not a manufacturing or farming exporter to the same degree. So the UK doesn't benefit from the money go round that the other three enjoy.

I agree , I think Boris will write his memoirs, do the speech circuit and plan a return to politics down the road once brexit/economy/Ukraine levels out. But I think he's had his day...

I've seen it first hand, in Romania, investing or promotion of corruption, Germany stripping forest and lumber from Carpathians, huge super farms German owned , German factories for cheap labour, taking citizens to Germany (albeit volunterely) cheap labour. EU products flooding market killing off local businesses. Look what they did to Greece, beggars belief...

Also in my industry, welding although it's very broad ranging , British contracts had to be put out to tender to all EU, mostly won by Italy or whomever and then if Britain actually won a contract in their own country they'd flood the job with cheap EU labour it was lose lose, than has been turned around by brexit... brilliant result...bring opportunity and skill back to UK

It was pointed out before before the actual Brexit referendum that there would be issues with GFA.

project fear…. no change in NI…Bla Bla Bla…..

Nobody belittled the U.K. or trying to scupper ye…..Oven ready deal….Boris great boast that he delivered a Brilliant deal for the British people that May couldn’t do…..how’s that scuppering??

Nobody said your future was less important….just deal with other commitments and agreements in a open, transparent and honourable way….which your government never did…..

it was going pretty ok, till Boris and his sycophants pretty much alienated every party in NI…

Avg household incomes down 2% in U.K. over last  10 years.

France up 10%

Germany up 19%

I can’t see Northern Ireland being sorted without real Leadership from Downing Street….One Of Suella Braverman’s reasons for reneging from the protocol was a rise in violence in NI, citing a hoax bomb attack on Simon Coveney…..Wait till next week, see what comes of that….

I wonder will Sunak win the leadership battle…..be some craic then….
