Yerr, we were the same. Thrash ‘em to death, then throw ‘em in the canal. Buy another for a tenner, they ran all day on a cupful of petrol….

I borrowed my mates 70 bogseat to go poaching.

It ran out of fuel and he had left it on reserve. I was stuck with a back box full of pheasants.

I knocked on this country house and explained the situation to this old lady and asked for a mug full of petrol.

She opened up the garage and produced a petrol can. I tipped some in the bogger and thanked her. She insisted I fill it up! She could not accept a cup full would be enough. Lasted about two weeks bless her.

Sweet old lady, never forgot her.
