kipper33 0
Hi, I am a new member and I was wondering if you could give me some advice and help?? I am new to shooting (3 Months club shooting) I would like to find out the best way to get shooting permission, or if any one has heard of sharing Shooting permission as I will only be able to shoot maybe once/twice a month on Sundays. And what equipment I would need, my gun is a S400 Carbine 1.77 with a Hawke varmint II 6-24-44 scope. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance Kipper Quote Link to post

Firstly, i have a "permission letter" document, as well as a "grant of permission" document that i constructed which I can e mail to you, if you want to PM your e mail address to me? I have handed these forms both landowners on two of the shoots i now have, and on both occasions the landowners concerned were impressed with these, as well as other bits i showed them when i met them initially to ask about pest control on their land. Handed in two times, both times returned with a positive response - thereby you can say i have had a 100% sucess rate so far. Secondly, It might help your case if others knew at least what area you are from mate;) In other words, if you are asking to be considered to accompany someone on a shoot, they might not know if its worth them offering as there is no indication where you are, (in relation to them) like? Hope this helps? Cheers, Grim Edited January 23, 2008 by Grim Reaper Quote Link to post

Gimli 0
Hi Kipper - it's difficult around London (i'm in North-West London) as there aren't many large farms around. I got my permissions by searching on the 192 phone directory site under farmers/farms within a set radius of where you are and once you have farm addresses check them against sat photos on Google Maps to see if they look big enough and away from too many houses and roads. I then phone-bashed for a whole day. Most said no or that they already had shooters, but as soon as one recommends you to phone another farmer, do it and start the call by mentioning ther name of the farmer who told you to phone. It immediately gets them in a more positive frame of mind. Then go an see the farmer (not in camo stuff) taking your BASC membershiop and insurance (an absolute must) and any gun licences appropriate. be prepared to pay for permission. I got one for nothing but it's a small farm with only limited pigeons and rabbits but then paid a farmer £200 for a year's shooting permission over his 2 massive farm,s which are dripping with vermin. Use the permission template/form that is on the site when you go to see the farmer as it looks profesisonal. Stress you will stick to areas and paths/tracks he designates and will clear up everything after you. You can also try golf courses/cricket clubs etc that might have problems with rabbits. Good luck and good hunting. Quote Link to post
