The dogs with the better noses, are the ones

who want it the most, the cant find dogs just

aint got the balls.

Had dogs without the nose but with bags of desire. They weren't a sniff the hole and make their mind up jobs.....they were run the earths and make sure. I'd have given my right arm for a sniffer though.

Are there terriers born without scenting ability,or are terriers born not wanting to use that scenting ability?

 

Sure enough there are some right awkward earths out there real mazes of tubes and scent.But surely in your average earth any terrier should be able to find, all dogs have noses not all dogs have the desire to use them.

I agree with Taffy, doesn't matter how hard they are, if they can't find they're no good, they have to WANT to find, they all have a nose to differing levels, they don't all have the desire to use it.

I've seen terriers say no at easy places.

even one holers, only to be proved that

a fox was to ground, by a dog that wanted it.

 

The same dogs that say no can find any where

on top, can't these dogs smell foxes to ground

or are they lacking in bottle and DESIRE??

a well respected terrierman i know honestly believes that all dogs have the same ability to scent,its how or wether they choose to find and i favour that thought. i wonder sometimes about how a terriers temperament can work against it,and also how the entering of a dog can teach a dog to search but ultimately if the want is there they'll find imo.
