I came to the conclusion really exaggerated feet, tight or lose  are to be avoided but thick pads and good bone are what to look for. Wrote a bit some 10 years ago or so

I know not all bull crosses have bad feet, but it seems the majority do, and still get bred from, therefore perpetuating lines of otherwise good dogs with shite feet!!

It is a problem, but I just couldnt keep a dog with flat feet. I dont mean they have to be perfect, but something to work with and improve on is ok. I would never keep a dog that couldnt catch rabbits and do a days work. People a few years ago were more up on feet, and would include in an ad for puppies that parents have great feet etc, but nowadays its hardly mentioned. How can you talk about a running athlete without thinking about feet?

I found that lurchers with a fair bit of Saluki in them needed carbs as well as flesh and bone or they didn't keep the weight on when coursing twice a week. Rice, pasta and bread: not all at the same time. Those without any Saluki tended to do very well on no carbs.

My thoughts exactly. 

The old breeds from around the Mediterranean seem to come with slightly oversized footwear and thick pads.

Looks like it’s had a knocked up toe there, see no good them cat feet

Knocked up toe, behave yourself . That's a back foot and as such always sit up tighter than a front.

She was getting on when that picture was taken but never had a toe injury in her life beyond the odd broken nail or so. 

 won in open field coursing in Spain as a sapling. 

 

And although she was still a pretty thing when she came over she soon earned the marks of her trade as she then ran as a lurcher in Britain.

 

And I'm sure that nose just kept growing

 

There's a big difference between a knocked up toe and natural bone development,  big dense bone from generations of running difficult ground.

Nice bitch, them galgos must have good feet for the ground they run on but still they must get there fair share of injuries looking at some of that rock hard ground they run on, it must of just been the pic that made that one toe look swollen
