Natures treasure islands - Britain Overseas Territories

I’ve often fancied visiting all of the BOTs. Most of them have some sort of fascinating history and/or are utterly breathtaking.

Anyway found a little series on Amazon Prime where one fella manages to visit all of them. Worth a watch.

Don't even need a rod there, just hand speed and a shallow stream lol

Two types of soldier.... Evolved smart types, like Stiff, who see a borehole and talk about strata. And then there's Neanderthals, like you, who see a bore-hole and probably try to f**k it! Give

Would this be some sort of anal, retro longing for the long lost british empire? ?

It's gone mate. Get over it. We're just a little island which finds it difficult to come to terms with our own unimportance.??

I had to read that three times before I could begin to understand it, lol. There’s a lot going on in that post for this time of the day.

I'm only winding you up. Do it. Report back. Be interesting to see the sights and hear what people have to say.

I should take a camera crew and maybe do a series for a well known streaming tv service to be able to distribute my adventure with the rest of you…. :hmm:

It would be very interesting, but unfortunately, ‘life’.

Aye must be great to have the money to do just that. It would be a fascinating documentary.

Just over a dozen left,go to Gib, it's cheap and close, research the history, write a tight script, self-film and narrate, edit, pitch it to Netflix?Bruce Parry did it, Levison Wood also I think?Your going to have to have an angle or be a personality type that stands out and separates you from the also-rans.

Well we're the 9th biggest island on the whole of planet earth and about a thousand times more important than the 8 above us combined so not bad all in all.

I deployed to Turks and Caicos islands in 2018 on humanitarian disaster relief .

The place was in turmoil obviously so I didn’t see that whole relaxed aspect of it , but you’d like the opportunity to snorkel/ dive about there .

Absolutely.

So the fella on this series claims that no one has every been to all of them before. But I imagine that by choosing the right path in the forces you could come pretty close, given they're either of strategic military importance or depend on the military for support.

RAF or navy will be up there for completion , Carribean , falklands , etc easily taken off

Yeah, I bet in the Navy it would be possible to do most of the Atlantic/Med'/Caribbean territories, including the Antarctic.

The trickiest one, and the one which being in the forces would make easier to tick off, would be Diego Garcia. Pitcairn in the middle of the Pacific might be a bit of a b*****d too.

Do Mountain Leaders or similar go to South Georgia? Probably not, be a hell of a treck for what could be achieved in Europe. It looks breath taking and there's so much history there of the whaling fleets and obviously has arctic warfare heritage for them.
