What type of monkey? Based on the name, perhaps a macaque?

Interestingly the macaques of Gib' are the only monkey species to inhabit Europe iirc.

I wonder what a baboon would go like? I quite fancy hunting them in southern Africa...

Chimps on the other hand would bring an altogether different level of brutality!

I think if memory serves there is a section in Jocelyn Lucas,s book hunt and working terriers about someone that hunted baboons with Airedale’s back in the day ?

I guess it’s each to their own mate. Most people would make the same indictment of hunting with dogs, period !  Anyone here who does or has at some time hunted with dogs would be regarded as ut

Honestly they gather in packs and mooch about in refuse piles etc .  I was disposing of my waste from the expedition post descent and it emerged  down the pile , screaming and chittering.  L

Goes without saying I'd expect.

Everything about apes/monkeys is a bit unnerving to me. They're far to humanlike. Watching natives hunt them feels different to ungulates etc.

I remember being taken to Blackpool zoo when I was a kid about 60 years ago. There was a full grown male gorilla in a cage with steel bars measuring about 12× 8 . It lay on a raised concrete bed with its head on propped up on an elbow. It watched everybody, every movement.  Some  drunk bloke threw some Blackpool rock at it and hit it on its stomach. Another dick threw a half eaten apple at it. It just lay there, totally impassive. I remember thinking there's more brains behind those expressive eyes of the gorilla than the c**ts doing the throwing.

Poor bugger was doing life in solitary for f**k all.

I can remember seeing a polar bear at zoo, walking from one end of enclosure an swaying from side to side at same time, iv saw some pretty nasty shit in me life but seeing that bear as a wean showed me what cruelty really is, I’d have shot it in a heartbeat to end it’s misery ☹️

It’s still going on I went to new forest wildlife park this year and there’s a aviary type enclose with pine Martin in it and it’s just going round the  boundary of its enclosure and it’s worn a path in the dirt doing it .

Yep I've seen big cats do that as well.

I love the clips of elephants rioting and getting their revenge on humans.

Some boffin cloned thousands of  hybrids between a gorilla and a human being. Let them all go to populate Sunderland. That's true Mackem isn't it?

Didn't he call him a Barbary ape in the book?

I think macacco is a foreign word for monkey in general rather than a macaque as we know them, my Portuguese mate called all monkeys that anyway.
