Thanks (newbie) Quote Link to post

SNAP SHOT 194
Hi there sportingshooter, Not to put a damper on things but if your new to rifle shooting then i'd make you start with a rimmy too, for the simple reason of safety, learn the trade at the bottom and work your way up. Sad but true.......you wouldn't teach someone to drive by leting them drive an F1 racing car for example.........All gun's are dangerous, so take your time and learn to walk before you can run, Not a refelection on you personaly just an honest opinion........ jamie g 17
I am new to this forum and to rifle shooting and am in the process of getting my first FAC. some people i have spoken 2 have had a reel nightmare with South Wales Police not giving them what they want e.g wouldnt let a friend have a .243 for fox nd insisted on him doing 6 months experience with a rimfire before he could fire his own rifle!!. has anyone else had any trouble with them? Thanks (newbie) i wouldnt no about wales mate sorry. but i live in worcester and come under west mercia. i have mentoring on rimfire never mind centrefire ! my feo said i wouldnt get a centrefire on 1st grant. but could apply for one after 3 months. as i havent needed the centrfire till now i wasnt bothered about it really as i just wanted hmr and 22lr for now. but now need a centrefire for fox control. ive filled in for a variation now asked for 223 centrfire buy 200 ammo keep 300 that is more then i would need as i wouldnt be using it that much really. but ive asked for my ammo to be raised on hmr and 22lr to buy 500 keep 700 as i have to go 10 miles to buy ammo. and as im only allowed to buy 200 of each and keep 250 of each at one time. its silly really as i want more ammo from the same batch and dont want to keep driving to the shop every couple of weeks!. ive asked for my mentoring to be lifted now on the rimfires and ive asked to see if i can have 223 with out mentoring if i get it. as i have had the rimfires for 7 months now so cant see why i have to have mentoring on centrefire if i where you mate just ask when the feo comes round. why you have to have mentoring if he wants you to and if thats the only way you going to get it then im sure 5 or 6 months wont hurt at least your have the rifles. so good luck atb jamie:thumbs: let us no how you get on mate. as it seams some police forces are a lot less keen to grant then others. SNAP SHOT 194
Hi there again mate, Sorry about being blunt but i've seen a few tossers with centrefire rifles with no experience here in eire, and they give the real shooters a bad image, IF you have a while under your belt, then by all means go for it and i hope you get it, Always remember to have a clear view of target,a good backstop, and no obstructions to target, i had a keeper tell me while stalking down the country that a round struck just feet in front of him as some idiot with a gun saw the bush moving a took the shot thinking it was a deer, NEEDLESS to say he wasn't a happy bunny and the clown lost his gun.... good luck again but i don't know about regulation's in wales, scotland or england, Quote Link to post

young1982 1
I've not had any trouble when dealing with Dyfed/Powys Police, and the fireams officer in my area is one of the soundest blokes i've met, however it did take around 4/5 months for my shotgun and firearms certificates to come through.
