Texas shooting

Then they shouldn't have been there, claiming a salary under false pretences, they are actually told if they aren't up to the job they should look for an alternative career ?

I agree. But you also have to look at who selected them and why? The whole ethos of recruitment is biased towards sociology, not public safety. Many of the people the modern police forces are recruiting are not prepared to do the job at its dirtiest. In one midlands force they were losing new recruits within weeks of them going on the streets. Some of them didn't realise they had to work weekends and night shifts. How the hell can these people be chosen, equipped, trained and not know that they have to rearrange their social diaries to fit in with the job?

To put it it perspective ; that force has 88% of its front line officers with less than 3 years service. 20 years ago that would have been less than 20%. The turniver of staff is phenominal because the people joining don't realise what is involved.

And that is down to management.

Incase anyone missed it the man that killed the school shooter in Texas wasn't even an on duty officer! It was a parent and spouse of a 4th grade teacher, he just happened to be a border patrol a

The Lawrence enquiry has little or nothing to do with it. The problems started with New Liebour's zeal for multiculturism  and embracing every minority into the system. They didn't understand the mino

I’d say thats completely fair and no less than any of them should get when you consider what they are potentially going out the house to face every morning.

Who the feck would do that job for £9:50 and hour and look out for yourself in every other regard ?……why should they ?

Train drivers earn the same and nobody is shooting at them !

Not when it mattered most, ask the parents of 19 children.

Not when it mattered in this particular instance with this particular PD and those particular officers in that small majority Hispanic town.

You have travelled widely and I have not mate but you know that America is a massive place and who would want to go out the door every morning in Chicago or South Central LA or Washington ?……and yet thousands of officers do, every single day and they deal with the worst type of savage animals all day, every day.

Like military personnel they deserve everything they get and then some !

On that we both agree.

Do you think there is a widespread culture of cowardice and dereliction of duty amongst law enforcement in the USA then mate ?

Do you actually think that is true ?

Certainly in the Uvalde Police dept, yesterday on TV it was described as the biggest policing "mistake" in the history of texan law enforcement, you could swap dereliction of duty for mistake easily, a mistake is forgetting paperwork or similar, none of the 19 in the school followed their training, which they had actually refreshed two months earlier.

I missed the bit where I said widespread culture, we are talking about Uvalde, I have met a few cops in the States who were OK and some who were doughnut munchers.

I have to say, it’s little wonder that the UK has ended up with a police force of stealth tax collectors and woke box tickers who prefer to f**k over the van driver with a blown tail bulb than deal with the gang of coons round the corner…….

The Lawrence enquiry and the ludicrous “endemic racism” label that it gave the police and our willingness to run with that nonsense as a people totally emasculated the police……

Can you imagine our police in America ?……they would get rinsed !

It would be chaos !

I refuse to believe that cowardice is endemic is US law enforcement, lack of joined up training yes, lack of skilled training yes but cowardice no way…..you wouldn’t go to work if you was.

We bash those who stand between us and the vermin at our peril imho.
