I dont see roe as a hardship for a dog but we all different. The hardest bit about them is when youve got a few and finding a good use for them all imo they are a lot quicker than fallow etc Quote Link to post
C.green 3,231
Definitely seen some on the fens and certain other places that went very well and if you could kill them sorts consistently youve got a good animal but like you say for the most part they panic when under pressure. Daniel cain 45,363
I've no interest in hares, day or night so After rabbit...Roe is always next on the list for a runner ,dog should knock a few over on the lamp before it's 10/11 month old...then I was happy to put them away and feed them till next season in the days gone bye 2 Quote Link to post

But I’ve seen some fallow really motor as well, think they look slower cause they’re bigger but they can shift when they get the foot down, different ball game stopping a fallow going at full tilt compared to stopping a roe though, maybe not so much fallow does but the big boys are a daunting task for any dog when they’re going for it full speed ahead 1 Quote Link to post
OldPhil 5,748
Yes, its all in the past now,.. but it is still legal to seek out injured deer, using a lurcher or flush them out of thick cover to a waiting gun.. I've always enjoyed hunting the Roe Deer,...obviously encountered others ,.. but I've always found the Roe, to be far more obliging. Edited May 31, 2022 by OldPhil 2 Quote Link to post

C.green 3,231
As said all in the past now but ive allways enjoyed the muntjac although noisy when caught they pop up everywhere dont seem to make mistakes or panic too much and getting them to break cover in daylight for a lurcher is sport in itself. 3 Quote Link to post
