Yes mate, the dens are called hibernacula I think? Lots of snakes around at the moment, I see a couple most days.

Way back in the early  60s i dug a Ferret out from a small Set on a disused Railway Line, the Track Bed was made up off Foundry Dross and Clinker which is common in the Midlands,  about 18 inches was a Hand full of Snake Skins which had been  shed  , never seen anything like it before or since is it  very common ????

Snakes have shed there skin for millions of years mate
