Now, killing is killing and I accept that…..but running a fox with a lurcher that may or may not get away Scot free is a bit different to shooting say a lion in a pen with an arrow ! May not be t

I watched my mate pick up a grey squirrel that he thought was dead - one of the funniest things I've ever seen

interesting creatures they sure are ....when i was in R.S.A 30 years ago we went on safari for 3-4 days.....in the Kruger national park ....outside one of the camps we stayed in ...hyena had a den in a drain pipe under the road just a few hundred meters outside the camp....we would see them all the time and there pups playing outside the pipe....a bit like dog puppies.....

apparently though they are closer related to mongoose than either dogs or cats.....interesting fact the female is larger than the male ...also the female has a penis....

I would say that a bloke hunting edible game or protecting livestock has a pretty easy job of explaining the death of an animal if someone asked him “why?”

What’s the bloke pulling the trigger on a tiger or an elephant going to say?, honestly ?

What would that man say if you asked “why?”

You cant say “it’s to provide money to protect species”…..if your that bothered, send them a cheque and have done with it……so the question remains “why?”

Because you want to could be another answer…..but the question remains “why?”

The answer is: Just so you could say you did and it made you feel good !

That to me is no justification for killing creatures so wonderful.

For some, especially the dentist who killed Cecil, I think its about the experience, everything, there's just been a guy here transiting through the city to catch a flight south, been up past Nunavut, lived out on the ice for 10 days I think in -30 to hunt a polar bear, can't even take the skin back home as its non importable, he did it for the experience, the first nation guides took the animal, they sold the tag.

I've hunted in places where I wasn't going to get to eat the meat and had nothing to protect. For me it is all about the adventure. Even if you don't get what you are after the fact you are hunting rather than just wandering about totally changes the experience, for me anyway.

, and without anthropomorphising the behaviour,

?....f**k me what a word !.....im going to look into the meaning of it and slip it into conversation with the ol woman over breakfast in the morning she'll either fall at my feet or blow me a raspberry not sure which ?.....18 letters, outstanding !

Personally i get sick to the back teeth of all the WWF " are we saying goodbye to an old friend " adverts stuff like its our fault they're nearly extinct....im sure plenty of folk travel from Europe to knock f**k out of elephants and suchlike but ultimately they live in Africa and are the responsibility of Africans.....just seems another thing they cant do for themselves so stick it on others.

Yes !...I read a book of an English chap who’s life work was to hunt elephant....his staple diet was whisky and rubbed cooking oil into his skin to protect him from the African sun :icon_eek:.....brilliant snippet of a time now passed but what a life he lived !
