Fox's and lambs...

...no no! There are some wee lambs out tonight.

Dog and vixen. Milk has stopped.

The cubs will take some finding, they are on a neighboring shoot and I bet the keeper won't let me look for them!

It's a dirty job but someone  has to do it.

53 paces for one and near 100 for the other.

What caliber are you using and what are you using on top of your rifle? 

Happy to say foxes aren't something we have to contend with in New Zealand. Did have a very large boar(s) eating lambs though last winter. I ended up taking out four of them to ensure that we got the offenders.

On the way home I checked the barley shed and shot 6 rats too.

Them rats make an awesome pop noise when shot with the 17!

there relentless fcukers this time of year.. was watching the ewes standing guard on a wire fence a few nights ago, they were fending off attacks

set up on a high hedge line and took these 3.. that’s 11 from this area since lambing started

I'm really thankful that foxes don't bother my ewes/lambs recently. Couple years ago found lamb leg at entrance to earth. Have more bother with crows & badgers - definitely don't report that on cunťfile mate.

Here’s one from last year. They loose all sense of caution once the Cubs are on their feet, or at least this pair did. The farmer took this photo of a fox stalking a lamb. I picked up both the parents and the two Cubs later that month. Not had a call from this place yet…

My go-to calibre has been .308 for which I developed a load using 130 gr Accubond. They have proved to be rather devastating on deer and pigs and have even taken a few wallabies with them (bit overkill for the wallabies). In the last 6 months I have been using a .270 and only using standard Winchester Super-X until I accumulate enough brass and then will make up a load with 130gr Barnes TTSX. I have been using TTSX's in the .223 and they work very well with small deer and pigs though you have to just be prepared to let the big animals walk on by unless you can guarantee a clean shot to a vital area.

That indeed looks to be a devastating little sniper setup.

I have also been using a Sytong66 on my single shot .308 with an auxiliary Sytong 850nm illuminator. That has served me well on deer and pigs out to 300 meters, in good weather, though just recently my darling wife Sharon presented with a Infiray GL35 thermal, so now getting my head around that.....with good effect I might add, a deer Friday week ago and 4 pigs over the last 2 nights.

Had a phone call this week from a new farmer. Very stressed at losing numerous lambs in one fieldhad five in the one field with little hmr and saw another three more that I could not shoot

Use to use a 308 for everything with hornady 110gn and heavier for deer.
