Hawswater Golden Eagles..

Recommended Posts

Positive signs here of having Eagles back in the Lakes one day. I think that solitry male died around 6 years ago now and he spent his last 12 years by himself. I called in there on two seperate occasions years back to see him and failed both times. My sister sent the screenshot by the way, she lives up there. Interesting though to think what is actually knocking about up in the sky that we're not aware of. I spotted a f@@king huge bird here in notts a few weeks back soaring on a thermal.. way up above a fair of crows that where larking about, they wasn't even aware of it's presence it was that high. Only time I've seen anything like that before was in Scotland. Pretty sure it was an Eagle of some sort.. maybe a juvenile WTE from the Isle of White project roaming about the country as they do at that age before returning to where they were raised as they apparently do.

I'm no expert by the way on this.. sure does interest me though.

Anyone else seen or heard anything similar??

Yep. A rather larger than normal bird of prey, defo bigger than a buzzard and a lot darker, spotted just outside Ashby de la Zouch by two walkers not prone to exaggeration. We thought eagle. Jok.

Not quite on par with these finds but I'm working beside the Derby County ground on a bridge that crosses the Derwent.

I heard the things before I saw em, around 5 ring necked parakeets, didn't know they were that far north.

Yes mate.. some being seen over in Notts too recently. I know what you mean with their call.. not used to hearing that racket up here are we!!

That's someone's life, imagine a private collection like that, it's taken time to build up, it's even got Goldie the London zoo escapee Eagle in there, I think he might have been better breaking the collection up to sell it however?

Who's that taxidermist, specialises in BOP's?  Gadd, is it? Lancashire way, I think. Bet he had some hand in that lot.

(Dunno if I'm especially tired. Or if this is what it's like as ye start to fall apart with ageing! Can't remember shit, these days)

He did, Mike Gadd, mounted a number of the specimens in the collection.

I have found dozens of nests, thousands of the birds in Surrey, roosts of a couple of thousand birds.

I might of worked this out wrong...... But 800,000 for 133 cases, that's over 6 grand a case? Surely even stuffed BOP aren't worth that

The originals supposedly came from Shepperton studios Dan, I have a place about 5 miles from the studios, there's thousands of them in the area. post-1930-0-38260600-1474394764_thumb.jpegpost-1930-0-83195000-1497107114_thumb.jpg
