Minty Mushy Peas?

Recommended Posts

Anyone cracked this, please?

In a past life, there was a chippies where Sue had hit on putting mint in the pea fritters. They were to fukking Die For!!! :icon_eek:

I'm currently in a real soaked peas phase. Cooking bucket loads in my Instant Pot. They're food of the gods, yes. But, if I could get that mint in there? O M F G!!!

Anyone cracked it, please? I tried a drop of Colemans Mint Sauce. Nothing! Couldn't taste a thing. Plus, that would be ridiculously expensive.

It'll have to be dried mint then. But, how much? At what point? Anyone? ?

Oh f**k me, it's the chick pea saga again ?

To be fair, I do actually like minted mushy peas with slow roasted lamb.

I prefer fresh mint from the garden - I chop it up and add a tiny bit of water and some salt and sugar, then put it in a ramekin with cling film over it and leave it in the fridge over night.

Then, just add as much as I want to the peas the next day.

If I haven't got any fresh stuff, I'll use a bit from a jar - it's still nice, just not as good.

Having spent the weekend searching for the dried stuff? So do I!!! :icon_eek: Fukkin Prices they're asking! Plus it all comes from Egypt. And much of it, if ye dig a bit, is Peppermint anyway. Got that growing in a ditch near me. But, I don't want to make tea!

No. Dug around a bit. I'll put the word out and see if I can't get a sprig off someone. Grow my own :good:

Got to be easier to get than fukking toads!
