I've only had 2 males that I bonded with where I've bonded with most of the bitches. I can't stand the whining when at home mostly that the males I've had seem to excel at, lol. Funnily, I'm usually the opposite. I tend to prefer males because I find bitches too whiney. I like the fact that males are more matter of fact and you know where you stand. Which is odd as with humans I'm the opposite...I'm not a blokey bloke and usually gravitate towards female company. I'm not much good at talking about women, cars and football. But, they're all different...Ned was a lovely happy dog but we simply didn't get on whereas Maud is a funny little thing but I love her to bits. Maybe they're the exceptions which prove my earlier premise. 2 Quote Link to post

Might be the breed of dogs, the bitches of the pits and bulldogs I've had never whined where the males never stopped and got worse with age. The two male running dogs I've owned were clingy but hunted off a lot but were quieter than the bitches in general. I like talking hunting and dogs to anyone and usually bore them to death with it, lol. Edited April 9, 2022 by Aussie Whip 3 Quote Link to post

stop.end 4,081
This all happened years ago throughout my life as I've hunted with different people all over growing up .. I'd like to think I'm a bit more professional these days lol... I've had my male Harris hawk take a farmer's pet west highland white in full flight and it did a fair bit of damage while a member of here stood in stitches.. the farmer was having a heart attack his wife's pet was now clamped by the top lip and his cranium by 2 talons... Jesus It all happened in seconds and it took about 2 to 3 minutes for us to get to the crime scene and then about another 3 to get everything calmed down enough to get the terrier to stop squealing and the hawk teased off the dog with a chick ... I hunt the farmers yard regularly still to this day...he says if the dog sees a robin he's under the sofa.... Irish red stag drag 2 bull X's about like fleas on its back for over 3 fields .... Ive broken a wheaten off a dexter bull... that was emotional ...walk terriers requarly in a spot that's full of birds.. I have 4 terriers here ATM that will all retrieve pigeons, crow pheasant duck in ponds hunt anything when I'm out shooting on a casual walk...wild goats..in remote Donegal while free walking a terrier and lurcher while walking to burrows..feral cats... In burrows over the years mostly in the middle of no where so we're never a farmyard cat and on lamp also, ... nothing exotic as such but as is if scoping out different areas back in the day. But the last 20 years.. just fox, rabbit, mink rats and avian pests for me... 5 Quote Link to post

Every time the dog closed in on the duck it would dive under and make it's escape, this just went on and on. With each lunge the dogs jaws got closer, the duck eventually tired and the determined dog finally made the catch. One of my favourite things is watching the development of a dog on these diving duck, sooner or later they click and wait till semi tired and follow the duck under, rising with duck in mouth and lots of praise from yours truly. 2 Quote Link to post
