Im no marble sculptor mate ive no idea if its good, bad or indifferent but as someone mentioned earlier to have it in a public cemetery feet away from where others might want to sit in quiet reflection

Council's can sometimes be a bit on the officious side ,a bit small minded ,BUT there is a difference between insisting wind chimes are removed or getting letters warning about too many teddy bears on

It annoys me when councils decide what's tasteful or not in cemeteries. Its a matter of personal choice. f**k all to do with petty officials. One man's tackiness is another man's good taste.  Not

I had the misfortune to work at an Austin Rover dealership in those days. We never sold a  new Maxi, Allegro,  Montego, Ambassadeur, Princess or Maestro. The only things we could shift were Metros, Minis, Rover SDIs and Triumph Acclaims. I once sold an Ital and the sales manager paid for a meal for my wife and myself. Every month or so the guy from the Honda dealers used to pop in for a chat and made a big deal of wiping up the oil that had leaked onto the showroom floor from brand new Austin Rover cars.

I have a mate who does it for a council, strims round all of the stones and ride-on cuts the large areas, he sub-contracts, always makes good cash but always complains about the flowers and urns he has to move while strimming, can't remember how many cuts he does each season, starts in Feb and finishes end of October, goes to florida for the winter.

Talking of

Talking of grotty places, I was once on a three day layover in Bangkok, and bumped into an old pal who was going down to Pattaya to play a darts match for money.

He was a tight f****r, so we got a baht bus down there and stayed in the Koala Bar hotel. What a shit hole ! I opened the wardrobe door and the rats scurried out of holes they had chewed in the back. Place was filthy, cockroaches everywhere, but my mate said "what do you want for 70 baht, (£1) a night " !

I stayed up all night at the bar, then got the bus back to Bangkok !

Cheers.

The good old days whn you got 70bhat for a quid

I had a D reg one, was about 2/3 years old. Was a great little motor. When my van was off-road I pulled a trailer and had 5 up inside and it was ?

They were the best cars Austin Rover made FFS. Imagine if she'd bought an Allegro!

I bought an Allegro estate, S reg, prob about 3 years old, did up and down to Cheshire several times with the dog box in the back ?‍♀️ swapped it in for a 1960 Landy, only year it didn't snow in Lancashire ?

Cheers, D.
