Was a good hunting spot, the farmer was called Mr winter, he once dropped a pony off at the kennels for the huntsman as a present....i thought it was a knacker and shot and skinned it . The new forest hounds had there terrier show there, don't know if they still do. Fantastic pack the new forest.

I was registered as a terrierman there, think I have an mfha card somewhere. There was no digging on the forest so it was only a handful of patches of private land where they could use terriers. I probably wasted my time down there. I enjoyed my time there but if I could go back in time I'd of made more of the sport and country available. Its a unique area and I should of explored it better. Working in kennels my world revolved around my job there. If i could rewind the clock I'd have a load of terriers, a running dog for all those deer and I'd of been off with other packs in what little spare time I had. Strange really cos I was bang at every bit of sport going before I went there and have done quite a bit since but when I was in a good position down there I just kept my head down and threw myself in to kennel work and forest raves . There was a few lads down there with russels, a bloke called kemish and a good few russels around the neighbouring south Dorset country if I remember correctly.
