Bangers I had a good  bitch  my old man use to dig to the same line in fact he dug regular with the lad that started it .any how I took old lad out on a few digs when I say I'm lining her with a said dog .his answer was  have you seen this dog graft no. He answered why not he told me to go back to the original owner of the line and let him advise me on what to put to her after seeing her work it's the best advice I've had and thankfully his advice paid of but do your homework bangers it pays in the end

What dog did you use over your bitch mate ?  Any pictures of the bitch an offspring you kept back. Did they turn out decent the pups of your bitch.

Mine was black dogs and only earth dogs and no pics were ever taken and yes there were some decent offspring because I listened and took advice of the original breeder but without advice I doubt that lining would of happened and we wouldn't of ended up with what we did

No pictures weren't they cameras back then lol Nearly all the old terrier men have pictures of there dogs. I've seen plenty on here over the years. An seen an heard some good some bad.

I didn't need cameras when I worked I saw with my own eyes what I had i worked hard culled what didn't make anything I didn't breed of culls or breed of studs I hadn't a clue of age or experience wise

A get the first part of the comment here blackmag the bit where didn't need a camera you had a photographic memory .  But a don't get the next part of the comment. Think you've worded it wrong pal. So it's lost me about breed of culls or Breed of studs. Was you ment to put ( off ) not ( of ) ? It's totally lost me. Like you said bit of home work but how much home work can you do lad sent me some pictures of the dog out grafting an clips so a went on that. Steve just sent me a clip of him doing abit of ratting with his other black terriers an he's a keen dog great in cover.

By homework , I think they mean hundreds of digs and lots of seasons.(even better if the dog has already produced offspring with a lot of digging done to them).

A know what he means by homework pal it's just I've never heard it worded like that before lol. The dog I've used has been put over a couple of bitches by the original owner. Like a said the original owner grafted the dog at the side of his sire for what he said was a couple of seasons then had to let him go because it was becoming abit of a nightmare them fighting father an son as grip the father was head strong wouldn't put up with the young dog tryin to dominant him all the time so got into some nasty scraps . The lad who owned the dog before hand works on the hunts up Northumberland way with both dogs. So he's definitely seen abit. Like a said the chap who's bought him now isn't into digging earths just wants him for ratting an bushing. He must be a decent dog he paid over a grand.

A don't get why people don't put the time in them self's from pup to dog. Be careful what you say here now because I recall what some say about age an proven ? Too young well too old well 5k spent. So how old was the dog when the man paid 5k ? I love this forum.
