To be honest Jimmy, I was not wild about the 007 but this new 007v is really good, looking forward to picking it up on Wednesday.

So what are your thoughts Phil on gun and 007v?

Just picked up some ammo yesterday afternoon and as the dovetail rail is a funny size, I am popping to the rfd to find a dovetail to weaver rail as I prefer weaver anyway. I put the 007v onto my Tikka with OUR scope on...................really bad interference in the viewer to the point I could not tell the difference between the tree line starting and the ground finishing.  I then put it on an Airmax Compact, much better but not as good as my pal's image.  We were talking through the problem when he said to check the box to see what lens was on this one, 16mm and he found the best results were with the 12mm lens so I just phone through to check they have one, they do so off to pick one up and get a rail for the scope.  I might set it up there and pop into the range just to get the thing set at 25mt start point which will be a good start when we take them to our range and set for 75mt.

A learning curve Mitch regarding the pard including not falling over when I move my head away from the pard  ?

Well I have spent a bit more time playing around with the new 007v 12mm and although it has taken me a little time to get there but I like it, pity it doesn't like all my scopes.  With this version of the Pard 007v using my two Airmax Compact 30 scopes I got very good results and I have to say the field the other side of my cottage wall is 130mt to the tree line and at IR level 2 and the lens halfway out, I could easily see details in the grass by the trees and the wire fence so all good.   As most of you know, I have been a NiteSite user for a number of years and never had a problem with them and the Viper and Wolf will still get used as they are are in my humble opinion, far far better for scanning the area for target species and in particular when ratting in fact a spotter would be very handy instead of scanning with the pard, I may use one of my NiteSite units to that end.

Using the 007v on the Hawke Varmint scope is not in the same league in terms of image quality as the Airmax and even worse is my MTC Mamba light however both work seriously well with the NiteSite and that has some bearing on things as the pard is no use on my FX Wildcat as the bullpup is simply too short with only 3'' of stock sticking out from the eye piece of the Pard.  Now as the Wildcat is used as much in daylight as it is in the dark night skies so I am not prepared to push the scope so far forward to make it viable for the pard as I do not want to use the pard during daylight.

Time to think this one out,  transfer the Airmax from the Wildcat to my Tikka .22lr and the Varmint onto my P35 sub 12 then I need to buy something for the Wildcat and I do know where there is an Optisan CP scope which has really nice glass and being very compact, it will suit this gun very well.  Ideally I would like to buy another Airmax Compact 30 scope but a bit out of reach just at the minute but you never know what will happen when I am in the rfd on Wednesday..............................?

Why they had to change from the original I don’t know . My original works with all different scopes from Hawke’s, discovery, westhunter , vector and many others too

Now you have the 007v, have you found to be suited to all your scopes Mitch.
