Farmer shoots, hunting trespasser

Recommended Posts

This lads farm right beside Tallaght in Dublin I'm sure he was plagued with c**ts illegally hunting and lamping.

Definitely there's was a real class distinction made during the trail, the acccused a wealthy barrister the dead man just a rough badger digger from near by council estates. I knew the barrister would walk. I don't think videos on his phone that had nothing to do with the event should have been allowed into evidence but it wasn't contested as far as I know.

Are we sympathetic because we've all been on land we shouldn't be doing a bit of mooching? If we weren't hunters would we say fair enough?

I think murder charge was a mistake was always gonna be hard to make murder against intruders stick probably rightfully so.

I've got my share of lashing from farmers over the yrs but I always tried to keep it civil and accept I was in the wrong and try play dumb and apologize etc......tried to cool things down.

Will this give a green light to other trigger happy landowners????

If somebody comes to your home to rob/steal/harm you in any way then shoot first ask questions later.... we'd all agree there but this wasn't the case. He knew they were there just hunting, his home was a bit away, them lads were turning away, he wasn't in danger when he fired the fatal shot but he had been threatened over shooting the lurcher and they were storming towards him at one point.

I definitely don't think the lad warranted being shot, was it murder? probably not but definitely some sort of manslaughter. This is definitely not justice or fair imo. Had a small farmer shot a barrister for riding across his land he'd be in jail now.

It's reinforced my thoughts on hunting.

Don't be on land you know you're not welcome.

Don't argue or fight with landowners if you are rumbled.

Don't have anything on your phone that you won't show a judge.

If you're gonna be doing illegal hunting ya wanna be alot more special ops about it.

All in tragic event that will have ramifications for hunters in the future.

I completely agree, in the past I was far to quick to take umbrage at what I considered slights on my character, but these days I understand that words spoken on the 'net can be mis-interpreted. As my

I think there is something just as important at play here….. No, a man don’t deserve to die for being out hunting….of course he don’t. However, Ireland is still one of the few places where i

If you want to hunt on someones land seek permission . If you get permission ,always let the land owner know before you are about to go on the land to hunt and leave a note on the dash of your vehicle ,saying your are hunting and your phone number . All ways get written permission and have hunting insurance .

or go we’re you want when you want and walk like you own it

I've always been of the firm belief, that if your gonna go about threatening folk ,I'm gonna stab/shot/f**k you up,then you best be able to back it up there and then.... because only a f***ing maggot goes back and does stuff on the sly....you never know how someone will react when put in a life and death situation...that's why, when you meet/go to new places you afford the people some sort of respect.. because manners cost f**k all... them fellas was in the wrong full stop...

If it was on a lead, then yes...if it was running about freely on his land...then the Law says...He is well with in his rights mate...every kid that's ever gone out into the countryside/hills with a terrier/lurcher ,knows this...

Farmers, especially sheep farmers, will shoot a dog without a second thought over here.

If it’s running free they will waste it.

If a strange dog was running free round my fields I’d waste it without a second thought….i have sheep and cattle, I don’t know the dog so that’s the end of it, it would be gone.

The area I live has practically no livestock so you can't just go round barreling peoples dogs, there was a keeper locally who shot a gundog off a neighbouring shoot and he got away with it because it was in a pheasant pen killing poults (so he said) otherwise he would have been completely in the wrong.

I don't know what it's like else where...but here and everywhere else I've been,if you have permission to run someone's land, then all the stock will be in the sheds)barns etc...they tell you where you can/not go..
