Wolfdog91 7,182
Yeah finally got some good success out this Lil ultra varmit. Been a fun little headache. Ended up having to kinda free-float the for end with o rings and dropped the trigger down Aslo found out the barrels on these dang things weren't stress relieved so to get the best accuracy out of them you need to let the barrel cool for a bit after each shot. Other wise it's gonna throw a round out of every group. So I found finally got this thing shooting from this with factory ammo and the factory 6lbs trigger To this with some cheap 55gr PPU soft points some TLC on the reloading side Then seeing as it was a .1-12 twist figured I'd try some lighter rounds and found a box of these .224dia 45 gr Hornady SP's I'd bought in a bundle for my .22 hornet. But the book had a load for them so figured why not and well So yeah getting went and loaded up a bunch at 23.5 gr of TAC and started trying stuff. After researching some of what these pro guys are using I figured let's drop the trigger down to like 1.5lbs ( heck some of them are using 12oz for PRS competition and 8 oz for benchrest but that's waaayyy to light). And I gotta say I thought it was STUPID light but when your in prone watching your heartbeat bounce the crosshair it's near bout perfect. Today I had a good bit of time so I just tried shooting one round and just getting up and walking around ,looking at flowers in the pasture, play on my phone, ect. Was giving the barrel like 5min in-between shots And guess that's the key because 3rd one hole...kinda 104yd Even tried some of my powder coated cast bullets doing the same and @50yd doing round around 2230fps. Which was alot faster then I thought because my AR was shooting a 17.2 grains of the same power and bullet at only 2100fps but I guess a 16" barrel vs a 24" would do that. Think I'll try the. Out @100yd next but man this @50 yd with that speed would be nice for plugging rabbits and the like or just plinking. Especially since I can cast like 150 of the Lil things for less then 1lb of alloy ($3) Kinda crazy how deep in the case the gun wants them but hay Now I guess I should go try and kill something with the dang thing and give my neighbors a break from all my shooting in the pasture 1 1 Quote Link to post
KimE 487
Great results 1" are good with what type of rifle. Yes I thought you might have to tweak the tenson of the foreend screw, you solved it with o-rings. Quote Link to post

Sausagedog 7,381
Excellent results. Those Hornady bullets were the very first I reloaded in 222. Many years ago now. I'm glad you played with that fore end. It is the weak link in that design and stumps many. Well done . Quote Link to post
