WILF 46,687
Here’s some basic reality, as we fund a land grab in Ukraine to the tune of billions a butchers shop that has been going for 30 year in my old town closes its doors for the final time this week, a top lad, always good for a chat, just an ordinary white hard working bloke who sold a good product at good prices……the green grocer who was across the street now power washes block paved drive ways ! Alan & Scot, a disappearing type of Englishmen ! I suppose a mobile phone shop, Turkish barbers or take a way will replace them no doubt assisted by generous grants.

Or we could sit back, do nothing and let a warlord run through Europe, that's the British way, I'm glad we kept out of WW2 as well. Do you think that spending 0.5% of our GNI on foreign aid saw the end to your mates business mate? Nothing to do with the fact that most people would prefer to buy their meat from a much cheaper supermarket? Edited August 22 by Pewit

And yes, I think our current tax system unfairly benefits large businesses and their share holders, isn't that what Labour are promising to address? I believe and I think you knew this, Wilfs point was the irony of funding these things when our own country is slowly losing its culture and identity. Not sure what labour are promising, didnt Starmer promise not to touch the pensioners winter payments?

And where does this clout and influence get the man on the street, as Wilf would say ? Poorer and colder is my guess, and your just about the last person in the world I’d of had down as a “virtue signaller”, but as you say, I must be naive, as I should have known you’d be opposite to what the rest are generally saying, you’ve got that rare knack of of changing the narrative even if someone agrees with you ! LOL ! I think this conversation has run its course , it’s been fun, but I’m out now . Play nice lads ! Cheers.

Lol No, we are talking about a possible war in Europe as per the title of the thread……when that happens and I believe it’s highly likely, then you will be able to trace a direct line from every other thing mentioned on this thread to that conflict.
