And the culture was still shite…..

But it's performance wasn't, waiting times were much shorter and the polls showed that the public were satisfied with it's performance.

Interesting article on tv last night. Evidently we are in a “population trap”.

That means we don’t have enough houses, hospitals, schools , etc or nurses, doctors, builders etc for the population as it is so we import people to do the jobs meaning we need even more houses, hospitals , school etc for the increasing population and we are in a vicious circle, chasing our tails and can never catch up.

We need to build a new house every two minutes just to cater for the immigrants coming in without making a dent in the backlog shortage.

Sort of a “catch 22”.

Cheers.

Which again comes down to austerity mate IMO.

Foreign aid is nothing unique to the UK, in fact percentage wise we are one of the lowest spenders of the major players in Europe.

Where did you get that fact from mate ?
I did a quick Google and we are the third biggest giver of overseas aid , per capita, in the world;

But as someone once said, “there are lies, damned lies, and statistics “, so Google could be wrong ! LOL !

Cheers.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…..it’s a duck !

We are being abused right, left and centre on a daily basis.

I was quoting % of gross national income, my mistake.

But per capita we are behind Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Luxembourg, & Denmark.

Quoted from the source you've just posted mate, Wikipedia.

A fair argument, but I think you're being a little naive. Now I'm not ignorant to suggest that no corruption is involved, but if you think the boat crossings are bad now, imagine how much worse they could potentially be if everyone stopped paying foreign aid. I know our government is useless, but I can't see them blindly throwing money away without assurances that it's being used correctly.

I must be naive then as Im not sure if we stopped funding the local craftsmen in Shenzhen province in China to foster dialogue that the boat crossings would get worse.

David Cameron passed into law that we give .7% of our GDP in overseas aid ; Why ?

Evidently the money we give to the likes of the Chinese Opera and the Ethiopian Spice Girls is because if there’s any money left in the overseas aid budget it has to be spent so they cast around looking where they can give it away ! Bit like the local council, spending all their budget just before the end of the financial year.

There shouldn’t be ANY overseas aid budget, in my opinion, it should be added to the defence budget and used on a case by case situation in response do disaster relief.

Cheers.

Even more naive, foreign aid isn't just charity. You're failing to understand the wider implications mate, I'm sure if you read in to it you would understand more.

I didn't know you was that naive mate. Foreign aid isn't just a charity that gives away money with nothing in return, it is also used as a business model, a model used the world over.
