Their involvements in the countries I listed are much the same as they were in your example of Syria, just less well known. In fact there's speculation that the recent military coups had Russian involvement. I was basically countering Francie's statement about the wests invasions of the Middle East, and pointing out Russia has done the same, but in less well known or reported places. But they are looking to gain influence and advantage anywhere they see opportunity to though. They use private military contractors to support the side Putin wants to win. Often these contractors are nothing more than serving spetsnaz who take their insignia off and wear a face mask. Similar to Western special forces operations. I'm not even saying that's wrong, lol. But people need to know that Russia are not a benign defensive state. The moment the West takes their foot off the throttle, there will be a queue of equally nasty fuckers ready to capitalise. Can now see why they don't want trouble with Russia as they rely on them for pretty much all there oil. If Russia was to cut of its pipelines most of Europe is going back to the 1900's.
