My youngest brother was born with one arm...f**k me,even he got his 5 hundred meter badge...my Oldman used to tell folks he only payed half price because he swam in circles ??

Any others who just sink when they hit water? Did my first swimming lesson last Saturday and didn't do too badly. Booked another in for this Saturday .Good little confidence boost. Wish

I had to have my 100m  badge before I was aloud to go fishing on my own, something I'm very grateful for now. Good luck ?

That's me diving mate,  what it doesn't show is I dropped like a brick from that point ?

Katch is right, your the guy thrashing in the water ? good pic though, reminds me of being in sabah, walking along and I dared my kid to jump in the water, it wasn't high, maybe 30 feet but he just kicked his sliders off and went ?

I was the first person to leave my junior school without even a width certificate...my brother was the second the following year. I learnt by having lessons when I was twenty five but, as swimming pools are so expensive to visit I've hardly done any more in the intervening twenty eight years. I've always blamed the fact that my stepdad made my watch Jaws at a young age...I was even a bit scared to sit on a toilet for weeks in case my arse was bitten by a great white and I still feel nervous around water.

haha , your bloody right regards jaws film, i not bad swimmer , used do  about 8 lengths of the standard pool, i was more into diving , went to spain  watching the local lads diving of these rocks  , about 20ft drop, anyway i did it no prob,, so thought i swim back to the beach where i left my towel . one of the lads said few days before a 14ft shark had been caught where we been diving, fook me it was real nervy swim, i kept looking around, and blow in the sea, yep i got back quick  lol

Watching folk diving or even just jumping into the sea off rock faces in Greece and other such hot places makes me so jealous it looks magnificently refreshing......its never really been the snapping my spine or smashing my skull that bothers me just the going under water bit !

A mate of mine is mad into this Scuba diving lark he's constantly reeling off these stories of different shipwrecks around the world he's dived at..... he tried to talk me into doing a wreck thats apparently off the coast of Canvey Island as an easy starter dive ?.....nah mate sorry.......id love to do it though it sounds a fascinating hobby.

Run the hose on a patch of mud in back garden, float a turd in the resulting puddle, stick a dirty syringe in the sole of your foot and stuff your head in the puddle……create exactly the same effect but you don’t have to leave the house ! Lol

My dad was scared of water, he couldn't lie down in a paddling pool he was that bad but it was him who took us swimming.  Our local pool had an upstairs viewing gallery bit where my dad used to sit reading the paper oblivious while my brother tried various ways to drown me so we never really got good at it. I can swim but not as good as my kids after we took them for proper lessons.

Scariest moment I’ve had in water was Costa Rica I was snorkelling away quite happily when from the shore I heard a bloke screaming snake snake get out mate get out, I thought whose he shouting at, it was me less than two foot away a big yellow bellied sea snake one of the worlds most venomous snakes was eying me up I was out like a shot, funny thing to come out of it when I got back to shore I started talking to the bloke who warned me and said what’s your name mate he went Dave I cracked up I thought there’s always a Dave to save the day ?
