Had the same problem wi the leopards ,me uncle safraz used 2 shoot um down but I would gi them best when I could

Hungary will deffo feature. Not too worried about the chasse etc abs similar. Most of the ground here is sewn up wirh the hunt, keepers, police, pikeys, wirh helicopters, drones, nv, thermal etc. And we still hunt! I fancy my chances both lamping and day time. Local knowledge is deffo key and so I’ve got a while to plan!

Some lads I know in the states only hunt them to tree them. Means you don’t need to worry about having tags for them!

Romanian plains would be good for hare type dogs just outside of hunting season, deer too . I unfortunately didn't stay long enough to buy goat tags with a neighbour, so we could harvest deer lol....

I’m not really there for the fishing mate, more for the craic with the lads and a good sit around the fire having a smoke and a beer. Even brought a runner this year and had a quick lamp!

Re LGD - common in Europe but also standard in the states and Canada. Main breeds are Anatolian shepherds, Komondors, maremmas, kangols, akbash, Great Pyrenees, and various mastiffs. I’m fascinated by them and have spent some time around them. 

Yes he lives in the mountains on the Slovakia/polish border and does a fair bit but mostly shooting ,one of the herders In the doc was small pyrenees type full of energy and like I say a huntaway and big herders bit like the romanian herder ,

I used to work with a romanian who breeds big herders and he said no living thing would worry them and he offered to bring me a pup over but i declined the offer .

I didn't succeed out there , but chased a bit of stuff, the late busher would put up more pheasant on our mooches than  the hunt  but as he was gun-shy would not do much on the day, when I got in cover (UK style beating) they'd take the piss , seemed impressed when I shot a couple of bottles they threw for me, that was the skill test, language barrier was hard work, pest control days were bring an M16 looking rifle and achieve nothing. But land was endless and amazing, I had great walks on sunny minus tens, unfortunately spent most time working here in UK and not enough over there , tis past now but worth a venture, shepherds appear from nowhere adopting any stray to join their pack and existing on and game in the area, a hunter told me if you want a good dog on the boar ask a Shepard but that is bollocks and they're just yappy useless things in the plains at least , the Carpathians are the real deal, bear wolf etc but I've not worked a dog there, hunting is money there so again local knowledge with someone of open mind would be required, the plains are an hour over the Hungarian border.....one life

Once when I was in Romania, I was driving a little Citroen hatchback along some country roads and ended up engulfed in a see if sheep and goats and stuff ...... worked out it was the bringing down of the stock off the hills, a massive convoy of animals with the shepherds in tow, with their dogs. I ended up floating along with the herd until they pushed them off the road for the night and settled down. Went to find the shepherds and after a bit of banter, our came the red wine and spirits and a tape of Romanian dancy folk music was found and stuck on the cars tape deck. We had a right knees up, and they showed me their dogs complete with spiked collars etc and said they are great dogs but as you don’t know them don’t turn your back or go walking through the herd on your own at night! Some of them looked to have seen some serious combat! Great times. I’ll try to dig out some photos.

Only thing I’d say is don’t let mushroom sort out your hunting excursions. That fuckers been over there for years with a running dog and the only thing I think it’s killed is time
