Hungary is a good example of that! You been Romania? Quote Link to post

I stay often in rural poland and you can get away with a lot of stuff and the wildlife is abundant. Roe, Hare, Boar, Rabbits, you name it. I myself am a little bit hesitant to run my dog (whippet cross) there because right by our property lives a wolf pack, which has around 15 members. In the countries you mentioned wolfs should be a given, too. Are the people not afraid for their dogs? You hear some real horror stories over there, wolfs having fun killing hunting dogs and so on... A good mate lives in Slovakia not far from polish border and he was telling me how bears come onto his property and wolf packs in the area . Quote Link to post

And used to speak half decent Hungarian, serbo-Croat and a bastardised Slavic patter made up of Slovak, polish and similar now it’s a bit rusty but I’d pick it up quick again. Then odd phrases in a lot of others, usually related to women, and beer. Fairplay I speak French like delboy Quote Link to post

Totally agree, but I don’t think many Hungarian officials are stalking here mate etx. End of the day folk can send PMs or even just chat in general. Have hunted wolves a bit in Slovak / Polish high tatras, with little success also messed about chasing deer, boar and kamzik? (Mountain goat). Pissed about a bit in France, hunted a few bits in Spain, gone coursing, digging and bolting stuff in Hungary etc 1 Quote Link to post

Borr 5,715
I think Hungary would be my choice , maybe with a few mooches en route, a lot of EU countries are sewn up and policed by local chasse , poorer countries would probably have some wilder lands and a more open outlook. Local knowledge is key as with any excursion.... 1 Quote Link to post

I bet your mate who you say has wolves is around where I used to live, up in the mountains along the polish / Slovak border. Proper mountains ! Re LGD - common in Europe but also standard in the states and Canada. Main breeds are Anatolian shepherds, Komondors, maremmas, kangols, akbash, Great Pyrenees, and various mastiffs. I’m fascinated by them and have spent some time around them. 1 Quote Link to post
