The original idea was to have my Wildcat .22 fac compact, as my pellet gun with certain applications and the Crown as my slug gun but when I was in the shop earlier in the week, my pal was doing some pellet tests in his Crown .22 fac and whilst he has had it for a month or two, I had not got round to shooting it. I was quite taken a back by the length of the barrel with the mod fitted, god only knows what a 700mm barrel would be like as this was a 500mm barrel and I have to say whilst it was fine in the shoulder, it is just so long when you are used to shooting guns like the Impact, Wildcat and P35 soooo now I am not so sure. I could go for another Wildcat or buy another barrel for my Impact but .25 slugs don't seem to be as advanced as .22 from what I have read. A bit of a quandry really so sit back and ponder I guess. I just got my Wildcat back from the idiots known as 'The Sportsman' as the reg was dropping pressure, it came back with a print out sheet stating the reg pressure is now producing an average 926fps so should be fine for slugs but a quick test in the rfd on their SKAN chrono showed approx 905 - 923fps but in fairness we used the end of my tin of AA Field Heavies 18gr which could be to blame. This week I will try again with a new tin of JSB Heavies 18gr both on my Chrony and the shops SKAN and if it is off reg again, it will be going back AGAIN, fcuk me, why do a company like FX deal with these muppets, I am even toying with not buying another FX and move to another make altogether. I am suffering with man flu at present so not feeling very good at the moment which doesn't help my mind set. Phil Impact but .25 slugs don't seem to be as advanced as.22 from what I have read. philpot 4,999
Ah ok Mitch, it seemed that .22 were the favoured cal but remember my Impact is the original 'smooth twist' barrel which really doesn't like slugs at all and do I want to spend £450 on a new barrel/liner for a five year old gun. I have not gone off .25 Mitch, just not sure what the fcuk to do when my Impact comes back. Phil Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
For around £500 you can make your impact into mk2 with the power plenum Works out a lot cheaper than new gun Quote Link to post

At the moment I am a long way off the direction I will go, just looking forward to getting the Impact back, it's been a long time trying to get one single part for the reg, in fact over three fcuking months, another splendid performance from bloody Sportsman.......... Had I known there was going to be so much hassle getting hold of this part, perhaps we would have gone s different direction. Perhaps I am being unfair to sportsman but I doubt it but nevertheless Christmas got in the way and it was said that FX didn't have the parts for my Mk1 which is a bit of a worry ongoing Mitch because to invest £500 into a gun that I may not be able to get parts for is a concern as the old addage about only the pension to afford these situations. I had thought of sending Fredrick Alexsen an email to find out what the scope is with parts for a Mk1 Impact. Phil Quote Link to post
