Watt does these we dogs bring to the hunting game that a collie x greyhound can't Genuine question No malice meant just want to hear from boys opinion on them ?

Why does it have to do something that a collie cross can’t?? Just because a different dog is used.. it’s not because the original dog is inferior… if you wanted a fox dog you could use a Weaton/greyhound….. that’s not because the bull/greyhound is no good, it’s just a different type of dog.

? Clear as mud Neal? I can only talk from a personal (and practical) point of view, and my rabbiting ACD based lurchers, were created from a union of Greyhound x Heeler put to a Hard Blood ,non-p

You are not far wrong there Aussie?

If it went over a racey lurcher with a bit of bull in I’d have one, I like my Kelpie that I got off jigsaw have gelled with her really well.

Border collies crosses are great at first, watch them stalking down the lamp but after a few stalks and missed rabbits and flat battery you soon get sick of it.

These imports are said to have more drive? And more of a natural hunter like the saluki and think for them selves.

Wee worked collies in the farm on cattle they got kick about too they came back for more game as hell it's the fight in the dog not the dog in the fight who knows ?

yeh , suppose  we can say that about all breeds apbt, labs, acds, collies ,gsd, kelpies   all working breeeds. ithink whats breed said the tenacity  of a acd, would be more than a border collie ,welsh collie, and kelpie , the drive be similar of all the herding dogs , i think the acd have more guts about deff. but ive herd few times said, some border collies who work cattle are very tough type dog , get knocked about every day, but always ready to work full on the next day, and there are the type to use for lurcher work , for there mind set, and physical attributes   deff. same as some working lines  of gsds from East Europe tough healthy  working dogs . you just got to do your home work when choosing  the right type working dogs .

From my experience of kelpies and my limited experience of collies and ACDs, I'd say that one difference is that the average collie will do as it's told (which is why people think they're intelligent) whereas the average ACD or kelpie does what it thinks is right. This may or may not correspond with what you think is right.

I've kept collie "types" for the last 25+  year now....must of just dropped lucky lol because i've never had one stalk

Back to the ACD .... a 3/4 bred animal would be more to my liking , as i think the 1/2 crosses come a bit to heavy set / boned to make a fair fist at the work that i like a dog to turn its hand too
