? Clear as mud Neal? I can only talk from a personal (and practical) point of view, and my rabbiting ACD based lurchers, were created from a union of Greyhound x Heeler put to a Hard Blood ,non-p

You are not far wrong there Aussie?

If it went over a racey lurcher with a bit of bull in I’d have one, I like my Kelpie that I got off jigsaw have gelled with her really well.

Apologies for taking so long to reply but I've had a busy weekend so I've only just seen your question. I have a feeling I did ask Jigsaw about the sire at the time but can't remember now. If Jigsaw can remind me of the sire's name I'll see what I can find out.

P.S. I'm not in the least offended...I'm proud to be a boffin/nerd/geek.?

Sounds like me!

Was the grandsire Karana Krypto? He was imported to the UK from Australia and used at stud a lot. I'm fairly certain he was the sire of Dave Coopers male. He was then bought by someone in Ireland. He was the grandsire of my third kelpie Scout. The Karana bloodlines are very worky (from my limited experience).

Yes I THINK he mentioned him,it's been 2 years, and between time and the accent of the Kelpie owner ,it's a bit of a battle to keep up...I will see if I can find any chat I had with him,I know where he lives but no idea of his name,he's 2 hrs from me ,travel

Krypto sired at least two litters at Dingle kelpie stud. One in 2007 out of a bitch called Ziggy (who was the sister of my first kelpie bitch's sire) and one in 2008 out of Patsy (full sister of Amber). It's a small world.

I think the cattle/grey is a better cross than cattle/whippet for rabbits. The latter is just a skinny ACD, not enough leg. Saying that a lot use the whip/cattles for rabbits in the pine forests here but I like faster types. As scutty says they do make good pig bailers.

This is a genuine question as I have no experience of breeding whatsoever. I've always wondered why it is that people say that a whippet won't take the extra weight of a first cross which is one reason for favouring greyhound blood instead.

My "rational" brain says that surely a half whippet half base blood is taking the weight of a dog which is half whippet half base blood rather than a whippet taking the weight of a dog which is all base blood. Does that make sense?

As I said, genuine question.
