Popular Post bodger 44
After 12 good years I lost my Collie x Grey in may last year , I posted on here if any one knew of a litter and had a number of messages back( thanks ) , so this is a bit of a follow on. This is Nell my 3/4 grey 1/4 collie 7 month old bitch , who I got at 8weeks . Nell is out of proven working stock from the North East of England bred by a lad who had both the mum and dad. I know this cross is not for everyone , but they suit me ,this is my 3rd collie x . As a more mature owner ( wrong side of 65) my activities are more focused on mooching and picking up the odd bit of fur and feather here and there . I like an agile , intelligent biddable dog , rather than a game for anything pocket rocket. Its early days but she is showing lots of promise and while she will never be a world beater she will do for me. Looking forward too the next few years with her. 38 Quote Link to post

OldPhil 5,670
Goodonya Bodger and wee Nell I am of the same mind as you,...also being an aged hunter, I have no need of a world beater,...such a paragon would be wasted on an old fecker like me Similar to yourself, I keep a Cur bred style of mouching dawg,.. we don't actually catch much game, but its good fun trying... All the best to you,.. have a great time with your diminutive rabbiting jukel.. Regards, OldPhil. Edited January 27, 2022 by OldPhil 1 Quote Link to post
Neal 1,857
There's often more pleasure to be gained by watching a good dog working hard for one daytime catch than several that you can't see on the lamp. Just my humble opinion. Keep it up Bodger and Nell. 8 Quote Link to post

My five month old pup is coming along well...apart from that scourge of some herding dogs...an interest in moving cars. Apart from that I'm extremely pleased with her progress. She was the smallest in the litter but had caught up by the time I picked her up at eight weeks but she's currently stalled at 17" for the last three weeks so I'm hoping she'll stay small as this height works better for the small woods and hedgerows where I work them. Not quite as good when they're on Dartmoor though. Quote Link to post
sandymere 8,263
Can't go wrong with getting the type to suit yourself whatever your age. 2 Quote Link to post

jukel123 7,957
It's good to get a dog which matches your own abilities as you age. I'm 72 and have decided the best match for me is a pug. They're ugly, have a crazed eye look and always have their arses on show. They couldn't catch a rabbit in a phone box and need their butts kicking for being such monstrosities. They complement yours truly perfectly. Edited January 28, 2022 by jukel123 3 Quote Link to post
