ferret guru 13
Bit of advice needed please . I have a 10 month old springer he's a reluctant retriever .in my yard he'll retrieve every ball for me flawlessly ,but my PROBLEM is when I take him out to the field he has zero interest in retrieving ,he will run for the ball pick it then look at me drop it and continue sniffing around . Have you tried a dummy with wings strapped to it? I’d have no problem with him retrieving a small cold game bird (partridge or woodcock) at that age. But only a couple of retrieves, as he might get bored of it and start dropping it half way back to you and get distracted with other smells. Sounds like the ball isn’t as fun for him as other smells when he’s out. Thanks for the reply , Do you think I should start the cold game in the yard first before bringing him else where Quote Link to post
