Niven wasn't just a great actor, he gave up his Hollywood career to join the British army, and ended up a Colonel in Phantom brigade, a special forces unit.

The epitome of the British gentleman !

Cheers.

I have only ever read 3 biography’s ever, most of them just don’t appeal to me.

I mostly listen to books now.

The last good one I actually read was Judas Pig

Read that myself mate some of it i thought how did they get away with cutting about with guns on them all the time surely police informants would have tipped old bill off and that episode were he burnt all that money . Thought I did find it a good read and remember a mate from London once telling me about that bloke who tried topping himself but had second thoughts just has he pulled the trigger severely disfiguring his face.

I think some of it you have to take with a pinch of salt, it’s obviously complete fantasy just written for entertainment……some of it I would say is pretty true to life, in fact I know it is.

It’s a yarn at the end of the day mate, nothing more than that.
