really nice that mate, im having real problems with getting mine to retrieve hell do mabey one retrieve in the garden to me than will either run off and sit with the dummy or just run up to it sniff it and cum back, if i call him when hes sat witht the dummy he just leaves it.

Hes 8 months old he heels well sits, sits at distance, lies down, jumps etc just can seem to get him to retrieve.

I have tried leaving the retrieving for a few weeks at a time to get him interested and to not bore him, nothing, ive tried getting him all hyped up witht the dumy but again he'll most of the time just run to it sniff it n leave it. Ive been out with the air rifle (unfortunatley not that many squirels left round here) a few times and hes been interested in them marking the trees well and running to the dead but again wont pick them up, 1 that moved slightly he was interested in n made a slight grab at it but it soon stopped moving and he soon lost interest.

Ive previously had springers who have just been natural lovers of retrieving so not sure what else to do.

There was an article in the january 9 Countymans weekly by scott bedding, and that just seem to sum up my pup. Hes chased a few day time rabbits and i know he loves that, do you think if i get him an easy run that he can catch hell be more inclined to grab or just run it for fun? sorry for the questions and hijacking your thread just you seem to have done really welll with your training. thanks adam

u are saying he will run off with dummy try and find aplace u can throw the dummy that is neer his keennel or if he is house dog from the back door usually they will try and take the object to were there bed is.also try adiff object to retreive try dryed rabbit skin rolled up .or try tennis ball and make more exciting buy bouncing it in front off him .also when he does return it praise him up.when u throw something or he catches something and he wont retreive do not walk up to him try walking away still calling him. if he picks up item and starts retreive try kneeling down so your the same level as the dog.i hope this helps but all dogs a differrent annd spaniels seem to be natural retreivers where some lurchers take more work than others
