I'm very impressed and perplexed. Impressed by its performance and perplexed by the price . The sensor is that good you can spot with it without ir! Decisions, decisions.... Google digex white out. Better options I think sausage. Quote Link to post

ianm 2,594
It is when the sensor cannot cope with the amount of i/r given and the screen looks like someone is shining a torch back up the lens. In short you cannot see anything. Quote Link to post

It gets ruined? in that vid clip I put up hes looking at the fox with bushes and trees to the sides.. white out is when any obstacle in the frame before the object your looking at affects being able to locate/see your target clearly! the digex suffered badly with it but by the looks of it the c50 has it sorted now! 1 Quote Link to post
Sausagedog 7,381
Well guys this has been very interesting and I have learnt a lot. I have had two units in my hands. One very expensive! Interestingly, the expensive one can still have issues! Something just is not jelling with me! I went out last night with my lamp like normal. Nice and simple. Just observed woodcock and hares. Nice. And a hell of a lot cheaper! I sat at my new baiting area, wnd was perfect. The camera said long-tailed slinky came at 4:30am the night before. I sat there with little moon light a good 50yds from the baiting area and through my rifle scope see well enough to shoot! With an Iret ofcouse. I then listened to fox barking and a vixen on a neighboring shoot and enjoyed the night. I then came home and fired the Pulsar thing up and got it something like. It is good but not for the outlay! I must be really low paid or something. I just can not bring myself to do it boys. The money is here ready but I can't do it. I just can't see the real advantage. I get enough shooting as is! Besides, there are horror stories that go along with these devices but I don't read any with good old lamps! Think I will return it boys and stock up on ammo and put the money back into the bank. Some of you might think this has all been a waste of time. I don't think so. It made me study up on the subject better than I ever have done. I'm certainly wiser on the subject, just not convinced. Thanks lads. Berni. 7 1 Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,021
I am the same as you Sausage , I have wrestled with my conscience for years about nv and in the end decided like you , I shoot plenty and would rather spend the money on clothing or stalking trips. Each to their own , no right or wrong just personal choice. Guess we are of the same vein When I was shooting rabbits last week it got me thinking , if I had thermal and nv I would obliterate the population so I'm glad I was using the lamp as it meant that some escaped to breed. The last thing I want is numbers to be wiped out , I want to be able to shoot rabbits season after season. 1 1 Quote Link to post

I’m tight when it comes to parting with money but all sense goes out of the window when it comes to guns and stuff! I look at stuff and think how many blocks and bricks did I have to lay and working in the rain then I still think feckit and press the buy button 2 2 Quote Link to post

Like you say mate each to own. I love my thermal & nv combo but I'm still selective over what I shoot, for exact reasons you state. I use self control to keep a usable balance. Another thing I like about not using lamp is that it's not only animals that aren't aware your out and abouts. Nosey neighbours don't see nv. 3 Quote Link to post

If I get a clever fox it keeps me focused. Besides, I just don't think it would of looked right on a flintlock! 3 Quote Link to post

Sausagedog 7,381
At the risk of being ridiculed..... Sytong ht60 3-8x! I like its layout and the comparison videos to the pard 008 look better to me! I'm thinking the 3-8x model because the max I will shoot at night with the hmr is 150yds. Most of my shots, being a skilful hunter, are under 100yds. Any thoughts, jokes or slander? Quote Link to post
