BGD 6,436
New Year Honours: Whitty, Van-Tam and Blair knighted, Lumley and Redgrave made dames WWW.BBC.CO.UK Athletes, actresses, campaigners, Tony Blair, a Spice Girl, and an 11-year-old boy are also honoured. Quote And Tony Blair is knighted, being appointed to the Order of the Garter. Unlike the main New Year Honours list, which is advised on by the prime minister's office, the Order of the Garter is a royal appointment. The former prime minister said it was "an immense honour" and he was "deeply grateful to Her Majesty the Queen".

Correct, he's a chancer who used the Labour Party to great effect. How many voted for them when he was leader, thinking they were voting for a socialist government ? Cheers. 1
chartpolski 24,704
Just my own thoughts, but I feel Blair, Mandelson and Campbell thought we would vote remain in the EU referendum, and Blairs ultimate goal was President of Europe. A man with no honour, no principles and no loyalty.....he would have suited the job perfectly. Now with The Order of the Garter he is firmly established in the heart of the Establishment, and will be able to get up to all the mischief he wants. Cheers.

I don't know anyone who voted for Blair thinking they would get a socialist government in fact the few socialists I know who actually voted for New Labour in 97 did so because they saw it as the lesser of two evils. Blair rode a wave of disaffected Tories to power after Black Wednesday, I don't think they were hoping for a socialist government!

Got to admit i voted for him for what we thought at the time a better deal for the working class in my area of South Yorkshire after years of the torys running it into the ground.
