I spent the first half of the year chasing a spotted ray but unfortunately failed on that and then from august til now i have been targetting mainly smalleyes and thornbacks with the odd session hussing. Ive managed to fish some beautiful places and seen some really interesting things along the way and have managed it all with a great group of mates. I apologise in advance for the heavy picture content. The below fish is one of my favourite,I was getting plagued by dogs and eels so tried a small bait in short and resulted in a smalleye. I managed Huss to 11lb 10oz, Thornback to 9lb 1oz, Smalleye to 9lb 10 oz, wrasse of 3lb 1oz, dogs to 2lb 8oz and a pouting of 1lb 8oz getting plagued by dogs and eels so tried a small bait in short and resulted in a smalleye. Good pics, good year mate! good luck for 2022 Quote Link to post

Sounds like the right kind of spot mate, most of the marks I know are exactly what you've just said; where a creek meets main river. Just working out the state of tide they pass through. Look forward to the pics of that monster 1 Quote Link to post
terryd 8,385
I know one thing with this fishing lark you just got to get out there. I thought I had this bass fishing sussed with the right tides, weather and wind direction. But last year it went against the grain and some of my best days were when the conditions were dead against. Strong north eastly blow against the tide I had my pb and also best numbers of bass. So this year I am ignoring conditions and just getting out there Quote Link to post

The mark most of those Thorneys came off was on what is classed locally as the wrong tides but we tried it one night after work and it worked and kept going and ended up with some great numbers from it 1 Quote Link to post
