depends what you want it for?. what is it being used for most?. First cross are no runner, but for working brambles, hedgerows, gorse, nettles etc, a beddy greyhound won't get near it.

Could with a bit of a bushing dog as my boy won't go in the brambles (can't blame him, he gets cut to pieces. That's why I was thinking beddy whippet.

Great little knock about pest dogs for woodland and bits of scrub and ferretting...watched a young beddy whippet take 22 rabbits on the bounce from one feild up in the Highlands few seasons ago..

first cross is ideal for bushing, make about 18tts.i use them for mooching, marking for ferreting, squirrels, odd pheasant etc. I know a terrier would do the same job but mine will catch a rabbits on short runs and in cover.

Is there such thing as a proper working bedlington these days. All of the beddys Ive seen over the last 20odd years have been owned by complete dreamers or absolute bulls**ters

been saying the same for years now, and said it on this forum before now, the last bedlington lurcher i had with genuine  working bedlington blood in it, was in the early 90s, got him from les robinson in brigg, bred out of newcombes blue, also in the blood was amy, norman, venus, andj the late john piggins lena, les used to be agood friend of george newcombe, dont know if les still works bedlingtons, these days or not.
