The regonal things right, i have heard them called

dogs & bitches

hobs & jills which i tend to call them

jacks & jills

does & bucks

oh and fitchet which i think means polecat

Up in the North east lads i ferreted with as a teenager used to call the ferts "monkeys","smellys".Fitch,stinker & fert are names i have only become aware of since being a member of this forum.I think fitch has something to do with the pelt of the poley,bloody fur trade

round here a lot of people call hobs Jacks. me & my little bro sort of popularised that one, cos when we were little we decided that if females are jills, shouldn't it be jacks & jills? we took our ferrets all over with us, and raced them at the local every year, all the other kids picked it up... my cousins call big hobs "bucks" but i don't know anyone else who does.
