andy s410c 61 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 The regonal things right, i have heard them called dogs & bitches hobs & jills which i tend to call them jacks & jills does & bucks oh and fitchet which i think means polecat Up in the North east lads i ferreted with as a teenager used to call the ferts "monkeys","smellys".Fitch,stinker & fert are names i have only become aware of since being a member of this forum.I think fitch has something to do with the pelt of the poley,bloody fur trade Quote Link to post

Ossie 11 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 round here a lot of people call hobs Jacks. me & my little bro sort of popularised that one, cos when we were little we decided that if females are jills, shouldn't it be jacks & jills? we took our ferrets all over with us, and raced them at the local every year, all the other kids picked it up... my cousins call big hobs "bucks" but i don't know anyone else who does.
