Deker 3,478
Me and my mate were talking and this came up in conversation, we all know you're not supposed to shoot game on a sunday but what about pigeons? woodpigeon, collared doves, and feral pigeons. Are classed as vermin and covered under the General Licence issued each year. There are no restrictions on shooting them on Sundays in England and Wales....... or the rest of the UK as far as I am aware. Cheers Deker Edited January 18, 2008 by Deker Quote Link to post
Knifebar 0
Maybe I am wrong but we have two ringed doves living near home and I could'nt shoot them. They may be vermin but I would like to know what damage they do as these pair really only live in the trees near here. And they are very pretty. Knifebar Quote Link to post

Knifebar Same damage and disease as pigeons!... A flock of say one hundred pigeons/doves will eat about 25lb of grain/crop per day,....dunno how much stinking guano that produces. I like to see pigeons and doves, but in sensible numbers. There are some flats that I look after and I had to hire a cherry picker to clean out the gutters and ridges, full of stinking shit, when it rains the gutters overflow and the shit goes everywhere. Rolfe 2
Yes .........no problems with shooting pigeons on a sunday.....that said it must be done under the terms of the general licence.....IE..for crop protection etc. Rolfe. Quote Link to post

Knifebar aye u might not think these doves r doing any harm but i wud class them the same as ur bog standard pigeon which is a rat with wing, so [bANNED TEXT] if they come over ur head have a pop at them Quote Link to post
