Shooting Pigeons On A Sunday

Recommended Posts

Me and my mate were talking and this came up in conversation, we all know you're not supposed to shoot game on a sunday but what about pigeons?

woodpigeon, collared doves, and feral pigeons.

Are classed as vermin and covered under the General Licence issued each year.

There are no restrictions on shooting them on Sundays in England and Wales....... or the rest of the UK as far as I am aware.

Cheers

I would like to know what damage they do as these pair really only live in the trees near here. And they are very pretty.

Knifebar :hmm:

Same damage and disease as pigeons!... A flock of say one hundred pigeons/doves will eat about 25lb of grain/crop per day,....dunno how much stinking guano that produces. I like to see pigeons and doves, but in sensible numbers. There are some flats that I look after and I had to hire a cherry picker to clean out the gutters and ridges, full of stinking shit, when it rains the gutters overflow and the shit goes everywhere.

Maybe I am wrong but we have two ringed doves living near home and I could'nt shoot them. They may be vermin but I would like to know what damage they do as these pair really only live in the trees near here. And they are very pretty.
