Kennel direction

What’s the best way for a kennel to face. south? Looking at building a new one and trying to work out best position

You would think south wouldn't you. Me next dog is going outside and I have a north faceing yard that don't see much sun in winter so not sure what I am going to do. But if I did have a choice I would go south

But would south not get to much sun in the summer? Be okay aslong as they got shade and plenty of water I suppose

The only problem with a south facing kennel is that’s the position we get most of our wind from.

My first kelpie would sit in the sun in the middle of the summer. When the sun moved and he was in a shadow he'd get up and move to be in the sun again.

A bit of wind ain't a bad thing, it really helps dry them out. But yeah, keeping them out of it should be a big consideration, they'll be a lot more hospitable in the winter for it.

Sun's nice but not having any won't harm them imo.

We have a stable kitchen door, leave the top half open most mornings, any sun, terriers straight to the spot.

Depends were your positioning it gypsy,is it in a pen,or sitting out in the middle of yard,I'd of put it close to a wall or corner wall an face the door to the wall.
