Popular Post Samrog 425
Been out for an hour tonight, after 2 blanks I’ve waited for the right conditions and I chose tonight, slight drizzle and wind blowing and now we’re up and running, 3rd time lucky. I know any Lurcher should catch a rabbit but I’m proud of my dog he bought them back alive, near enough straight back to me (little bit of showing off from him) Praised him to high heaven, I must admit after I took them he wanted to get at them again before they went in me ruck sack I told him a stern leave it but he tried it, I suppose to be expected at first? The dogs 11 months old next week so very early days and won’t be out on the lamp for another week or so but I’m very pleased. He caught 2 out of 4 tonight and the ones he missed it was almost like he was too fast for them and didn’t quite know when to hit the brakes I’m sure he’ll learn this better. Dropped the rabbits at my cousins house and they’re having rabbit stew tomorrow. Brilliant. These are first kill for my dog and the first catch for me about 15 years since I was a kid and our last old lurchers were able before they passed away. Dogs having some extra meat with his tea and I’m having a beer. Cheers all. 34 1 Quote Link to post

shaaark 10,786
Nice one, mate. Just keep him off those 'big' rabbits, 'if' one should appear in the beam. I do like the look of that dog, cracker. Edited November 30, 2021 by shaaark 1 Quote Link to post

Just something my old man had ingrained on me. This dog has been brilliant though hes eager to please, eager to work and soft as muck round the nieces and nephews as are most lurchers mind you. Dropped on quite lucky i think. cheers Quote Link to post

Thanks mate im not sure the percentages. Hes lurcher to lurcher mostly Beddy grey. Drop of whippet in there and splash of lakey in the original beddy. Quite the cocktail.
