Squirrels .... so many about

I've been trapping squirrels over the past couple months for the boss. There seems to be no end to them! I'm running 6 traps and up to 51 now with no sign of it slowing up.

Anyone else seeing the same?

Saw over maybe 60 in a kilometer walk through woodland at the weekend.

Not seeing the numbers i saw last year and mostly those that i am coming across seem to be around the sweet chestnut trees that's probably down to no acorn and beech mast.

52! Although it does seem to be slowing down now. I was getting 3 or 4 a day at one point. 5 acres down only another 1995 to go lol

I'm snowed under with squirrel jobs in lofts and gardens. 

I've tried raising my prices so l don't  become any more of the busy fool l am aready but it doesn't  seem to work.

The classic scenario starts with a customer being reluctant to kill them but accepting that perhaps "The one in the loft needs to go".

Then as the body count rises the customer gets addicted having every one that sticks its nose over the garden fence  caught .

Then follows this conversation.

Me ." We've got the main culprits .               We could go on trapping but you've got to consider how much you want to spend and how much l'm going  to have to charge you".

Client. "What are we up to so far?                     (Intake of breathe when l                     tell them)                                              Oh , perhaps just a                             couple more ". 

      Then two days later "Perhaps just a couple more".

Has anyone noticed just how big the squirrels are this year?

I've never known a year like this one. Normally catch one or two in my garden some years none this year 18. It's only a small garden about 30 to 40 yard long about 4 yards wide ffs. As I said in the thread "another one bite the dust" I think they are moving in from the hedge row and wood about half a mile away , very few acorns and Hazel nuts around this year.

Certainly seem plenty of the Greys round my way this year!  Rabbits a bit down but the squirrels up!

I feed them daily on the trail at the back of the house during hard weather.

Last year the woods i walk in every day i could count at least 40 and they were scattered in every part of the wood this year due to being no oak or beech mast i am lucky to see half that and they seem to be concentrated around sweet chestnut trees.
