A lost cause

I spent yesterday calling to the farmers I used to clear rabbits for a few  years back, and after 6 farms and 4 and a half hours driving about,I found one ditch on a spot,I counted roughly 10 rabbits running in to it,but....(there's always a but lol).....it's on the side of a hill, and it's very steep....I'd say the dog wouldn't have a hope chasing downhill,.....and not a whole lot more running up,lol.....and then I was thinking,if I ferreted the place, would I be right to,when rabbits are so scarce, the other side of the coin is then, you can't be fussy if ye want a decent bit of ferreting,...I was hoping I'd find a few about but the spots I called to are barren of any numbers.....all the ground burrows I once worked alone, just me and the dog are now full of leaves and devoid of life,.,it looks like I'm keeping a lot of pets from here on in,the farmers said they hadn't seen any amount of rabbits in a few years....shame to see it go that way

If you’re ever up in the northwest your welcome to come ferreting with me. Or even next year if things calm down, come up for a weekend.

Thanks wb,it's coming to that now,I'll be relying on charitable offers lol...I appreciate the offer......I might take you up on it sometime

Same round my way ,haven't seen a rabbit in the day for months and I popped to a horse paddocks that used to hold a few but one horse owner said she'd seen healthy rabbits running about like they was drunk then find them dead with no sighn of mixy

I hope they can come back from this but I don't see it happening any time soon local, strange how some lads are getting good bags and yet others totally baron

Where abouts are you jigsaw? It’s similar where I live in Lincolnshire… loads of hare and deer, but I thought I’d step away from that game and do more rabbits. I’ve got a rabbit dog now, but she has to work hard for what few rabbits we get.
