Our well was 310 ft deep.I doubt it would have ever overflowed lol.

Ours is about 8 feet to the surface of the water which is above the level of the roof of the school at the bottom of the hill . Never thought about testing the depth.

In the old cottage we used to rent, the water came from a large tank fed by spring water. After heavy rain the tap water ran brown and we got shrimps in the bath. The kitchen tap had a filter fitted.

my house is the same big tank that's spring fed that's never once dried up even in the middle of summer saves  on water rates

I think back in the day around my way the white wash would have been the same as what they marked football pitches out with. Only time i have used white wash believe it or not was when a trainee down the pit we were in a white washing gang spraying the steel arches in the roadways down the pit.

I think it was called Distemper paint like a lime wash if you lent against it it came of on your clothes like chalk. Bloody stuff never saw the point in it was rubbish stuff. Was in the out side loo and the larder. Thats another thing we had no fridge just a larder and big concrete slab self and damp as f**k.

House I am in now had one of these as well as a coal House with the door outside that's been a godsend over the years for hanging game in the past and now used to store garden tools and such like.
