grompz 703
what prices our vets charging to amputate toes on running dogs these days, got a 5yr old lurcher here that has a reoccuring toe injury, each time he runs then goes lame, told the last vet to take toe of completly, but charged me a wedge of money, and only strapped it up, and arsed about for months, dont know would it be worth getting dog insured and job done, or just paying for it from the hip, what you guys reckon the best way to go. atb Quote Link to post
poxon 5,760
Sure I was quoted about £500 all in to have a toe removed it was a reoccurring injury that would come an go I didn’t get it done in the end as I got shot of the dog in the end not because of the reoccurring injury but because she was only good for rabbiting but I’ll be honest from the little bit of grief I had with toe injury it gave me severe lurcher foot fetish first thing I look at in pups/dogs is feet 1 Quote Link to post

Dinosaurs 2,107
One of mine smashed her knuckle & had to have toe & knuckle removed ( front middle) took long time to heal & never ran the same again. The toe next to it kept dislocating so had to retire her. That was 8 years ago cost £200. I should’ve had nail on next toe removed at same time. Hope yours has a better outcome. Tyla 3,179
Make sure you use a vet the knows what they are doing. I had toes off two different bitches, first bitch it ended her career but second ran just as well after. Obviously the injuries were not identical but I believe the 2nd vet did a better job 2 Quote Link to post
