Second is that since then they have taken more samples from more locations and they back up the narrative that temps now are rising faster than ever. I think… but I’m eating fish cakes so I’m not exactly in research mode.

It's been proven time again you cant survive optimally without mest, you eventually will starve to death an go loopy from no vitamins an minerals. Fits quite nicely with the vegan movement that seems to be prominent right now. I think farming as much as any industry needs a shakeup and we need to look at things holistically and environmentally. Otherwise we’ll have more instances of “yay we saved the Amazon, gin and tonics all rounds!…. Shhhh no one mention that they’re now ploughing the Cerrado grasslands instead!”. Or “yay we are recycling all of the countries used tyres, gin and tonics all round!….. Shhhh no one mention were paying a firm in Asia to take them and they’re just burning them!”. I could go on… 3

Some countries are clearing forest en mass to grow cattle feed or grassland to feed cattle. Billion cows are emitting serious tons of methane , as well as all us humans , add to that pig's and poultry. Living in Devon seeing robotic milkers where cattle don't go outside unless they're dead. Surrounded by lush grass that is made into haylage or whatever, feed bought in? Farmers won't plant trees unless government pays for it, wanting subsidies for everything , can't walk in a wood around here for cattle grazing the forests now. Guaranteed all the local streams and rivers have slurry and fertiliser going in them. I dare say there are lots of folks doing it right. I'm happy to dodge the supermarket for my meat where I can I do. But I think all industries need to look at themselves closely , from packaging, building, energy , waste, we must all see the way we go about things here on earth isn't particularly forward thinking or long term..... All that said although trade deals aren't great for environmental issues, I think if the people can't be educated to be more patriotic towards British food/product/etc then you're back into a race to the bottom.

SheepChaser 8,089
There was an anthropological paper I read which I can’t remember the exact details but it was something along the lines of societies hit a point where they want to be seen to be as progressive as they feel they are so want to distance themselves from the things that got them to where they are ie farming, hunting etc. It’s that rural / urban thing. But maybe now they can have the whole country as a place with super cities and dotted areas of ‘nature’ you can visit and walk around ..... and that is all!
SheepChaser 8,089
There is another myth surrounding soya - that rain forests are cut down to grow soya for cows. The soya is mostly grown for human consumption but a large % is unusable so it’s fed to cows and other ruminants. Whichever way you dress it up...... it’s people that are the problem. See my image earlier - there are actually slightly less cows now than in 1980..... but almost the double the people and aviation has exploded ......

SheepChaser 8,089
The other thing I always notice is that to the layman, when looking at farming small is always seen as good, green, happy etc and big and commercial is seen as bad, low welfare, high impact, poor quality. It is simply not true at all. Same with the indoor vs outdoor debate for livestock. Folk want all outdoors but I have both and I see who’s happier from about now until March 2
