davidlloyd 16
I need to move house, desperately! I'm really into my running dogs, I have both Whippets and Lurchers, and also ferrets. I live in South Wales at the moment and am getting a bit peed off with having to travel miles for a bit of sport. I enjoy working my dogs on all quarry (pre-ban ) and want to move anywhere in the UK or Ireland, ideally somewhere which has as many quarry species as possible. Obviously house prices are an issue, I haven't got a fortune so somewhere where the prices are not too crazy is a must, and also somewhere where the landowners appreciate what we do for them and are happy to give permission. Looked at the Scottish Isles and prices seem cheap. Does anyone live on an island and if so how's the hunting and how are the locals about it? I appreciate any help! Quote Link to post
hunter cammo 0
stay away from scotland it is all my ground joke aside , scotland it over flowing with outsiders mostly horsey folk from down south who have sold there one bedroom flats in london and bought a large farm in scotland with the profits , scotland is not so romantic as you would like to think , it is cold wet and the game is well protected , so what would be the point in coming here ? ........... Guest Frank
Grass is allways greener on the otherside. Ireland, is low in rabbit numbers in most places, in my opinion, but, their is pockets of them about and their is a good few in these spots, nowt like Northern Uk, or Scotland though, from what i see and hear. One thing i do know, is well protected over here and can only be taken under licence, is the Irish hare. Again, not as big a population of hares, as their is in the UK, their everywhere over their, in most parts from what my brother tells me whos lives over their. Quote Link to post
timjim 43
how about camarthen in our very own welsh wales, not too far and lots of farmland, i havent been there for years hunting , but the farmers were overjoyed to have someone keeping the red numbers down, not sure about house prices though , good luck with your quest mate ! Sounds spiffing old boy! Just sold the apartment overlooking the Thames for a couple of mil, not enough room for the ponies you know! Only joking, I'm from the poor Welsh valleys. Don't be so greedy, you'll be sick of it soon! Quote Link to post
